Message In A Bottle

by Melville
(United Kingdom)

The words placed in this bottle,
Are written from my heart
Whoever that does find it
Will you please take part.

What shore did it alight on
What beach did it just rest
My lonely little bottle
Away from all the rest.

When you read my story
Stop and pause awhile
Did my funny anicdotes
Give at least a smile?

I wonder if you'll write me
Or maybe even phone
A stranger with my bottle
Standing all alone.

Oceans it has travelled
Buffeted by waves
A resting place for seabirds
Away from sheltered caves.

Will you be a writer
Or just walking on the beach
How long did it take it
To get within your reach?

If I get an answer
From some distant shore
I will write another one
Then rush down to the shore.

How nice I found this poem of yours. I once put a note in a bottle and set it to sail in the Gulf of Mexico but alas, never got an answer. I still find the idea and your poem, a lovely thing. Thank You for sharing your talent.
